Rank Structure
The color of the belt denotes the amount of proficiency each student has attained in karate. Just like going to school, there are different grades and different requirements for each grade. In this style of karate, we use a ten Kyu system below black belt. Black belt ranks go from first to tenth degree. Beginners start out as tenth grade or class white belts (Jukyu). The complete ranking system is as follows:

Jukyu - 10th white belt
Kukyu - 9th white belt
Hachikyu - 8th blue belt
Shichikyu - 7th blue belt
Rokkyu - 6th yellow belt
Gokyu - 5th yellow belt

Budokai Karate

Our goal...

is to develop character, spirit, and a strong, positive attitude, using as much traditional Japanese theory as possible. Our goals are to bring people together from all different walks of life, teach them to respect each other and themselves, and to have a caring and loving feeling for their fellow man. We strive to build strong minds and bodies, which leads to self-esteem. With all of these concepts in mind, this can only have one outcome and that outcome is to bring us closer to peace, first on an individual level and eventually on a global level.
